The game porting process

1. Technical Review

We evaluate your project structure, performance, engine features, third-party tools, and overall console compatibility. This gives us a concrete picture of what needs adaptation, what stays the same, and the effort required.

2. Adapt & Optimize

We bring the game to the target console:
a) adjust source code and engine features
b) adapt visual assets to hardware limits
c) tune CPU/GPU performance
d) update UI and controls for gamepads
The goal is simple: the game runs smoothly and feels natural on the new platform.

3. QA & Certification

We test the game on real hardware and ensure it meets all first-party requirements (Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox). This covers performance, compliance checks, edge cases, and anything needed for a successful certification submission.

4. Launch & Support

We prepare builds for release and provide ongoing technical support after launch.
If updates are needed, we handle those too.

FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions and answers.

Many developers find success on Steam, then hit the console wall: dev accounts, first-party requirements, certification, store setup, controller adaptation, performance budgets, and release builds.

We help you cross that wall, and you choose how hands-on you want to be. With self-publishing support, you stay the publisher of record under your own name and we help with setup, submissions, and the technical side. If you’d rather not deal with the platforms at all, our publishing service is hands-free: we become the publisher of record on console and report sales to you, while you keep ownership of your game and IP. Either way, we bring your game to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox professionally.

We offer three services, and you can combine them. Separately, we agree on how you pay – that’s an independent choice.

Services:

  • Porting – the technical work: we adapt, optimize, certify, and submit your game for console.
  • Self-publishing support – you stay the publisher of record and release under your own name. You sign up for the platforms (free, but the process can be slow), invite us as collaborators, and we help with product setup, submissions, and the technical side.
  • Publishing – you’d rather not deal with the platforms at all. We act as the publisher of record on console, handle product setup and submissions, and send you quarterly sales reports. You keep ownership of your game and IP. Please note that publishing with us does not include marketing – that stays with you.

Payment models (agreed case by case): a fixed fee, revenue-share, or a hybrid of both.

So, for example: you might take porting on a fixed fee, or publishing on revenue-share – whatever fits your game and goals.

Porting cost depends on how complex the game is and how much work is required to make it feel native on the target console.

The main factors that affect cost are:

  • Platform architecture
Some platforms are closer to each other (ex: PC → Xbox) and require less adaptation. Others (ex: PC → Nintendo Switch) demand more optimization and memory work.

  • Game engine & tech stack
Unity and Unreal already support consoles, which speeds things up. Custom engines or platform-exclusive libraries take more effort.

  • Game complexity
Large open worlds, heavy physics, or lots of plugins increase work. Smaller focused games are faster to bring over.

  • Controls and platform features
Adapting UI, controller mapping, achievements/trophies, and save systems can add scope.

Instead of giving a generic range, we start with a brief technical review. Once we understand the scope, we provide a detailed estimate with timeline, milestones, and deliverables.

Depending on the project, we can work under:

  • Fixed-price porting (full scope defined up front), or

  • Hybrid models (reduced fee plus revenue share, when strategically aligned)

We start an NDA, review your build and repository, and then share a clear quote and timeline.

We’re open to revenue-share and hybrid deals, but only for selected projects. Send us your game build or pitch deck and we’ll evaluate if it’s a good fit. If it looks promising, we’ll explore a revenue-share model together.

Any of our services can be arranged under a fixed fee, revenue-share, or a hybrid (a reduced fee plus revenue share). The right fit depends on the game, its commercial potential, and the scope of work.

Revenue-share and hybrid deals depend on the project. We look at each one case by case. Send us a build or your pitch deck – we’ll take a look and figure out the best fit together.

Most ports take 8–16 weeks, depending on game size and how much optimization is needed.
After reviewing your build, we give you a timeline with milestones and delivery dates.

We keep the process simple, safe, and transparent.

  1. NDA
Before anything else, we sign a mutual NDA so you’re protected.
Your files, builds, and repositories remain private. You keep 100% of your IP.

  2. Access & Review
After the NDA, we request temporary access to a build or repository.
    We analyze:

    • engine setup

    • plugins / middleware

    • performance requirements

    • platform targets

  3. Scope & Estimate
Once we review the project, we send:

    • a fixed price quote

    • timeline and milestones

    • platform-specific considerations (Switch, PlayStation, Xbox)

  4. You decide
If everything looks good, we schedule the kickoff and begin porting.

Absolutely. You keep full ownership of your IP, your build, and your store pages.

Only if you want us to. With porting or self-publishing support, you stay the publisher of record – you keep full ownership of your IP, your game, your brand, and your store pages, and the console version stays under your own name.

If you’d prefer a hands-free route, our Publishing service is exactly that: we become the publisher of record on the console platforms, handle setup and submissions, and report sales to you quarterly – while you keep ownership of your game and IP. Please note that publishing with us does not include marketing – that stays with you.

Either way, it’s defined together, up front: responsibilities, store page control, payment model, term, and platform scope.

We join your workflow: Slack, Discord, Jira, Linear, Codecks… whatever you use. 👾
